Another D.C. TechBreakfast takes place Wednesday morning. Head to the Beehive Baltimore on Wednesday evening for the monthly meeting of Baltimore’s Python programmers. On Thursday, take your pick of two open project nights hosted by two of Baltimore’s makerspaces: it’s Open Hack Night at the Node in Station North, and it’s Project Night at the Foundery on South Central Avenue.
D.C. TechBreakfast: Easy WebContent, makers of an HTML5 cloud-based web app for creating websites, is one of the five startups presenting at the monthly startup showcase. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 8 a.m. Microsoft: Friendship Heights, 5404 Wisconsin Ave., Chevy Chase, Montgomery County. RSVP. FREE.
Baltimore Python Meetup: There’s no topic set for this month’s meeting of the Baltimore Python group, but Python programmers will be around eating pizza and drinking beer, reason enough to attend. Wednesday, Aug. 21, 7 p.m. Beehive Baltimore, Emerging Technology Center, 2400 Boston St., Canton, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
Baltimore Node Open Hack Night: If you’re new to the maker movement, or interested in digital fabrication but don’t know where to start, stopping by the Baltimore Node open house is a good first step. Current Node members will be around and can help you get acclimated with the space and the tools available, which include several 3D printers, power tools, hand tools and more. Thursday, Aug. 22, 7 p.m. Baltimore Node, 403 E. Oliver St., Station North, Baltimore city. RSVP. FREE.
Baltimore Foundery Project Night: Another of Baltimore’s makerspaces is hosts a weekly project night. The Baltimore Foundery downtown will be showing members and walk-ins how to anodize, a process by which metals are coated with a protective oxide layer to prevent rusting. Thursday, Aug. 22, 6 p.m. Baltimore Foundery, 207 S. Central Ave., Washington Hill, Baltimore city. RSVP. Free for current Foundery members. $5 day pass required for non-members.
