Baltimore Foundery adds classes in Arduino and aluminum brazing

Two new classes courtesy of two new instructors will be available at the Baltimore Foundery makerspace as of Oct. 23.

Two new classes courtesy of two new instructors will be available at the Baltimore Foundery makerspace as of Oct. 23: an introduction to microcontrollers for Arduino open-source tech, and another in aluminum brazing.

  • Intro to Microcontrollers is $200 per person, with most of that money going toward a microcontrollers building kit. Teaching the class is Andrew Wilson.
  • Aluminum brazing is $65 per person, and the instructor is Audrey Van de Castle.

“They were people with unique skill sets who were interested in helping the maker community,” said Andrew Stroup, cofounder of the makerspace on South Central Avenue that opened in April and began accepting formal memberships in July.
Down the road a class in blacksmithing will be available once a kiln has been installed.
As for membership, Stroup said a few new members have joined the Foundery since late summer, but most people are showing up for the Foundery’s weekly project night, which takes place every Thursday.
