When it comes to technology conferences, Heather White and Eli White see power in bringing many languages and platforms together.
With the first Mid-Atlantic Developer Conference, the Mt. Airy–based cofounders of One for All Events are organizing a two-day conference that can be valuable for all developers.
The conference is scheduled for July 13-14 at the Maritime Conference Center in Linthicum Heights.

Having organized events around the country that were specific to php and Drupal, Eli White said the cofounders started One for All Events to host more kinds of events, including those that are language agnostic.
Eli White is a founder of the Frederick WebTech User Group, which does not have a focus on a specific language like many monthly meetups. He saw how technologists working in differnt platforms could learn from each other.
When looking to add more larger conference events to their schedule, it was appealing to look local.
“We really felt like region could use a conference that wasn’t focused on a specific technology,” Eli White said.
The two-day conference will feature a mix of keynotes, breakout sessions and workshops.
Among the speakers from the Baltimore area is Jim Jagielski. Best known as a developer of the Apache web server and cofounder of the Apache Software Foundation, Jagielski will discuss the importance of open source. NPR Senior Software Engineer Nara Kasbergen will discuss mental health in the tech workplace and the efforts of Open Sourcing Mental Illness. Sharon Steed of Communilogue LLC will discuss communicating with empathy and building community. Shannon Turner of Hear Me Code will talk about teaching and mentoring.
