Technical.ly has a partnership with Philadelphia Neighborhoods, a publication of Temple University’s Multimedia Urban Reporting Lab, which is the final capstone course for that university’s journalism students. Each semester, a pair of students work with Technically Philly to cover events to learn more about Philadelphia’s technology community and offer coverage on previously less covered but important topics, like digital divide and civic action through technology.
Each semester, as part of the required course, students are given the opportunity to work with Technical.ly editors and reporters resulting in the below coverage. Though the relationship operates similarly to an internship, these are students who are getting in-newsroom experience to support their final journalism course work. This partnership is in place of standard in-classroom time and not seen as a traditional internship.
