With the new year will come new professional development opportunities for women and nonbinary people in tech.
The Women in Tech Summit (WITS) announced today a slate of programming changes for 2024. Remember: Last summer, Philly’s Gloria Bell launched her own nonprofit, the Inspiring Tech Foundation, and took over running the WITS, which offers programming for women-identifying and nonbinary people in the tech industry. The organization hosts in-person and virtual conferences throughout the year.
Next year, WITS plans to host two larger in-person summits, one in May in Philadelphia and one in the fall with details still TBD. These changes also include two new virtual events per month focused on WITS’ Innovate Yourself and Trends in Technology themes.
The organization also plans to host quarterly meetings that dig into a tech or career development topic, host in-person networking events with Innovation Women around the country, and revamp its Slack channel.
WITS also announced it is accepting speaker applications for its spring 2024 summit now until Jan. 15.
“These changes are designed to enrich the educational, inspirational, and connection experiences that the WITS community has requested,” Bell said in a written statement. “New offerings are allowing us to expand our reach and better serve our existing community.”
The announcement came the same week the DevTrinity developer conference was shut down after organizers were caught making profiles for fake women speakers.
