The year’s top Google searches included Bryce Harper and Kevin Hart

Google released its search trends for 2019 on Wednesday, and a few Philly figures were included in the internet giant’s top-10 lists.

Kevin Hart, who grew up in the city, graduated from George Washington High School and attended the Community College of Philadelphia for a bit, was the fourth- and second-most-searched person in Google’s people and actors categories, respectively.

Interest in the actor spiked in September — Delaware was searching him the most, Google said — when he got into a serious car accident. He’s spent the last few months recovering.

And the second-most-searched athlete, and ninth-most-searched person overall, in the United States this year was Bryce Harper. Interest in the Philadelphia Phillies player spiked in late February when the team finally signed the 27-year old for a whopping $330 million, 13-year deal.

As a surprise to no one, Pennsylvanians and Delawareans were the top states to be searching for details about the player, Google’s data shows.

Google’s data gives a look into trends in categories such as arts, culture, news, cooking, people and even babies. (In the last few weeks, enough people have searched for Baby Yoda that the little creature surpassed searches for “Baby Shark” and “Kim Kardashian Kanye West baby.”)

In other most-of-the-year news, Philadelphia Business Journal shared a roundup of the top Lyft destinations in 2019. The top venue Philadelphians visited was the Wells Fargo Center, top transit spot was 30th Street Station, Fishtown’s Suraya was the top traveled-to restaurant and the top late-night eatery was Pat’s King of Steaks.
