This Week in Jobs: Green phase, red alert

Happy Tuesday, TWIJers. Hopefully you’ve already gotten wind of the baffling actions from the Post-Gazette’s management to sideline two Black journalists on staff from covering the historic protests happening in the area, and its removal of news stories about those protests from its website on Friday.

TWIJ is one of our fun sides, but Technical.ly is also an organization with a newsroom that upholds journalistic principles of independence, fairness and reporting the truth. We’re outraged to see the journalists of a fabled institution like the Post-Gazette be blocked from doing their jobs by their own management team — and doing so by targeting Black journalists no less.

Meanwhile, as we’re witnessing generational social change play out in the streets, Pittsburghers were also able to go to restaurants and meet in larger groups under Gov. Tom Wolf’s “green phase” order. Lest we forget about the pandemic we’re facing, there’s a sliver of good news: The worst fears of the public health threat have abated, at least for the moment.

• Miss hangin’ out in the quad? Chatham University is conducting a search for an Assistant/Associate Professor of Data Science Analytics. 
• Major AV player Aurora has multiple openings at its Pittsburgh offices, including a Systems Engineer who works on both the hardware and software side of things.
• Work on Apple’s Keynote Team as its newest Software Engineer to work on some of its flagship operating systems.
• Google’s current opportunities in Pittsburgh include a Technical Solutions Consultant for Google Play.
