Urban Technology Project is looking to fill the 2020-2021 cohorts of both its AmeriCorps Digital Service Fellows (DSF), a pre-apprenticeship program, and Computer Support Specialist (CSS), a registered apprenticeship program.
DSF cohort members — all recent high school grads ages 17 to 24 — can develop computer skills via on-the-job training, mentorship, service and technical instruction. CCS — young adults, career changers and veterans — requires its apprentices to have one IT certification and one year of IT experience and connects apprentices to teachers in the School District of Philadelphia to provide tech support.
Benefits available to fellows include IT certifications, a living allowance, a monthly TransPass, and an educational scholarship, while CSS provides IT certifications, a monthly TransPass and a salary with benefits. Certifications to be earned include CompTIA’s A+, Net+ and Security+; Amazon Web Services; and Apple’s ACMT and ACIT.
The deadline for applications for both programs is July 27. For questions, contact Shana Savage at email@example.com.
The program is also seeking organizations to hire apprenticeships. Learn more here.
“We have an ‘own the whole product’ mentality and teamwork is pivotal to our success — open and frequent communication within and across departments is not only encouraged but expected,” said the company in its job post. Candidates are recommended to have more than five years of human resources experience, top-notch project management skills and savvy interpersonal communication know-how.
In April, NeuroFlow announced that it received a $750,000 National Science Foundation Small Business Innovation Research grant to boost the development of its digital platform: “Especially important in today’s climate, this recognition highlights the equal importance of behavioral health in the holistic treatment of a patient,” COO and cofounder Adam Pardes said at the time.
And rest assured, the startup takes mental health seriously for its own employees, offering a monthly mental health stipend. In the earlier days of the pandemic, CEO Chris Molaro wrote about the importance of free resources being easily available for Technical.ly.
NeuroFlow is also hiring for a handful of marketing and sales jobs.
Venture for America (VfA) is looking for for startups across industries to work with college graduates for two years while offering training and mentorship.
“Our Fellows are excited to learn how to build lasting businesses, join companies with strong cultures, and grow alongside your team,” said recruiter Devon Sanford in a public Slack post. “Whether you’re looking for a high potential product manager, a natural salesperson, an engineer, or the Chief of Staff of your dreams, our team will work with you to find a great fit.”
In 2018, Philly hosted 26 fellows at 18 companies, including Guru, STRATIS and Perpay.
Prospective company partners are expected to have strong leadership, a positive and inclusive culture, and dynamic roles with a clear trajectory for growth. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to get connected.
Growing, Center City-based gym software management company Wodify is looking for a director of customer service, as well as mid-level and senior back-end engineers, a senior QA automation engineer, a cloud network engineer and a client success agent.
The company, which makes tech for Crossfit gyms, has more than 5,000 customers around the world, said Chief Marketing Officer Brendan Rice in a public Slack post.
At NET/WORK Philly earlier this year, Wodify’s head of people operations, Ali Farrell, shared what the company looks for in job seekers: “We look for people who can problem solve, and as cliche as it sounds in Philadelphia, people who are gritty.”
