This Week in Jobs: A mountain of jobs

And Alka Seltzer.

Editor’s note: Every week we ship an email newsletter featuring the region’s most exciting career opportunities. We’ve lovingly called it This Week in Jobs (aka TWIJ — “twidge.”). Below is this week’s edition. Here’s the last one we published; it’s meant to live in your inbox. Sign up for the newsletter here.

Ugh.

The stretch between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day isn’t a period of time — it’s the working professional’s Mount Everest.

Starting now, we are embarking on a nearly impossible uphill battle, carrying the ever-growing weight of turkey and eggnog on our backs like rock-filled rucksacks. The higher we climb, the more dizzy we’ll grow, as weeklong Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales converge in our inbox, rendering us unable to tell which day it is. And in the most unimaginable of feats, we’re still expected to get work done.

So pull out those jeans with the elastic waistband, throw back a 5-hour Energy and conquer this mountain that is the holiday season.

Also, while we have you, take a gander at this week’s wintery fresh gigs.

The News

Don’t confuse this new Philly transplant as a new form of liquid cheese: Wiss Fiss is new in town and it’s packing tech jobs. More formally known as WSFS, the Wilmington, Delaware-based bank recently merged with Beneficial Bank, expanding its physical locations across Philly, Bucks County and South Jersey. It’s still working on amping up its tech division, so now is a great time to get to know the bank and prepare for upcoming opportunities.

Swimming in dough and lookin’ for your next investment? First, well done, you. Second, tune in to a new podcast called “Off the Sidelines,” presented by Project Entrepreneur, a program by UBS, and hosted by yours truly, Technical.ly. Each week we’ll interview experts about how to get involved in startup investment, with a focus on the female- and minority-led investment firms that are creating more inclusive pipelines for funding. Click here for how to follow “Off the Sidelines.

The Jobs

Git yer jobs here!

Enjoy Netflix? You may be inspired by what clean energy provider Inspire is doing. See what we did there with the wordplay? Brilliant stuff. Anyways, Inspire has created a Netflix-style subscription to wind power, empowering people to live smarter. And it’s hiring some smarties, like you, to join its team:

Named after an 18th-century vessel, investment firm Vanguard lives and breathes the ship life as enthusiastically as it builds products that help people save their money. Not to mention, its campus out in Malvern is pretty sweet. Check out a few of its open gigs and prepare to board ship as a new crew member:

Perpay helps people make washer- and dryer-sized (aka large) purchases without overextending themselves financially. The fintech startup, based in Center City, is constantly growing. So if you have a passion for helping people purchase the important things in life (especially during the holidays), check out these openings here:

Take a cruise out to its campus in Chesterbrook and you’ll meet the “Artisans of ERP Software” at Deacom. The tight-knit team is always looking for new members to play cornhole with (oh, yes, and to build incredible software), so sift through these opps to see if you’re a good fit:

And, your friendly tech news, events and talent media outlet, Technically Media, is looking for a couple of smart cookies who can hustle to join its team:

And a few more for the road:

The End

Thanks for joining us again this week, friends. And let us know if you come up with the perfect ratio of eggnog to 5-hour Energy to get us to the top of Everest.

Happy job hunting!
