If you want a say in who represents you in state and federal government, you have to vote on Nov. 6. And to vote, you have to be registered to vote. And if you are not registered to vote*, today, Oct. 9, is the deadline to do so.

Here’s the website where you can register to vote in Pennsylvania.

(For the 2016 election, there were 2.3 million Pennsylvanians who were eligible to vote but didn’t register.)

If you’re new to town or count yourself among those 2.3 million, do yourself a favor and watch Picture This: Voting, a quick primer on the voting process from Generocity columnist Akeem Dixon and WHYY.

“If I can make this happen, I’m sure you can, too,” said Dixon, the host of Broke in Philly’s new series, Picture This.

Dixon practiced voting and spoke with a Philadelphia committee person, a candidate for state representative and a newly registered voter at a block party this past weekend.

Also: If you download this new app from civic-engagement group Committee of Seventy and then register to vote, you’ll get five “gems.”
