Calling all ladies of tech. If you plan to attend the PHL Innovation Picnic this Thursday, be on the lookout for the “Brazen Brigade,” a neon-clad welcome wagon for women organized by Brazen Philly — the new local membership-based community for women entrepreneurs.
“Both tech and entrepreneur communities are male-dominated, and large events can make this really apparent,” said Bonnie Bogle, director of Brazen Philly. “With the Brazen Brigade, we want to give women attending the PHL Innovation Picnic a safe place to land — and an easy way to meet new people, make friends, and get connected to the community in Philly.”

Don’t worry about not being able to locate them in the crowd. Organizers and participants of the Brazen Brigade will literally be “lit,” donning glow necklaces, pink sunglasses and “Be Brazen” buttons. Founding Brazen committee member and cofounder of the fashion tech startup And We Evolve, Liz Funk said the accessories are meant to “show that we’re enthusiastically happy to engage in conversation with other women entrepreneurs and technologists, known and unknown, and to show new folks that we’re approachable.”
Want to join them? Email Funk for details on how to find her at the picnic (liz.funk@gmail.com), or casually swing by once you get there. You can also find more details, and learn more about Brazen Philly, here.
