On the Market: Why did O3 World have a growth spurt?

At digital design agency O3 World, the staff of 31 was getting a bit cramped inside a 6,300-square-foot office.

Over the coming months, it also plans to tack on three to five more employees to the squad, so CEO Keith Scandone decided it was time to expand the HQ with an additional 1,600 square feet of space. Scandone, who cofounded the agency in 2005, said there are both new and old business driving his company’s expansion.

“It’s a combination of growth inside existing account relationships and new client relationships as well,” Scandone, of Society Hill, told Technical.ly. “We’re being relied on more and more as business consultants in the digital space for clients so it’s enabling us to play a more pivotal role in the companies’ larger strategy around their digital products. The difference is that we’re consulting and delivering on the design and development recommendations we’re making as well.”

The cofounder said O3 World has been successful at hiring the right talent in the Philly region — a frequently-touted painpoint among digital industries — and has also found luck bringing in staffers from other regions. Companies like Fishtown neighbor La Colombe Coffee, Thomson Reuters and Vertex SMB have tapped O3 World for digital projects.

Up next, the agency plans to bring aboard a full-stack dev, a UX designer and a QA analyst. Plus, Scandone said, there’s a Design Director role position that has proven tough to fill. Those interested can reach out here.

Glassdoor’s yearly ranking of 100 beloved CEOs is in and we spy a couple Philly-area bosses.

There’s the CEO duo at Chester, Pa.’s Power Home RemodelingCorey Schiller and Asher Raphael, who came in at No. 6, beating out tech titans like Mark Zuckerberg (No. 16) and Elon Musk (No. 49). The company is looking to fill over a dozen open positions in Philly, including iOS developers and DevOps engineers.

To rank the country’s top bosses, the workplace review site looked at CEOs who ran companies with at least 1,000 employees, had at least 100 approval ratings, senior management ratings, and company reviews from U.S.-based employees.

Also on the ranking is SAP chief Bill McDermott, who makes the list for the third consecutive year. In the Small and Medium-sized Business (SMB) category, Medical Guardian CEO Geoff Gross ranked at No. 39.

If we’re talking growth spurts, let’s talk about RoundTrip, the medical transport company that swelled up to 24 full-time equivalents (FTEs) and ditched their WeWork spot for an Old City office.

As detailed in a recent Inquirer profile, the realLIST ’18 company has been on an upswing of late, spurred by deals with health centers like Jefferson. Led by cofounder Mark Switaj, RoundTrip is hiring for a handful of jobs including a coordinator for its navigation center.

On Thursday, at 6:30 p.m., the company is hosting an open house at its new HQ at 221 Chestnut St.
