From idea to startup in 54 hours: That’s the breakneck pace at which ideas are developed during Techstars’ Startup Weekends, part of the Google for Entrepreneurs network.
And from Friday, June 1 to Sunday, June 3, that’s what’s going down at West Chester University’s campus, when around 100 local founders and aspiring entrepreneurs come together to craft startup ideas and pitch them before a panel of judges, in what organizers say will be Chester County’s first official Startup Weekend.
The event is organized by WCU, the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce and Ideas x Innovation Network (i2n). A lineup of 25 coaches, judges and speakers will work with entrepreneurs as they shape their ideas. We spy a few Philly tech regulars like Jedidiah Weller — formerly of WebJunto, now founder of a design agency called OpenForge — and Nick Bayer, founder of Saxbys.
“It’s a great learning experience for participants,” said Nancy Kunkle, Project Director at the Chester County Economic Development Council. “And many of them are pitching before a panel of professionals and investors for the first time.”
