Want to lift the mysterious veil that shrouds space exploration? Tuesday night, at Makers Meetup, you’ll get a chance to hear from the scientists driving the latest tech initiatives at NASA.
In a conversation moderated by Dr. Basil Harris — the lead scientist behind this cool project — attendees will hear from Katherine Reilly, Strategic Partnerships Manager at NASA’s Innovative Advanced Concepts (NIAC) Program, and Dr. Jonathan Sauder and Adrian Stoica, of the Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Per organizer Marvin Weinberger, attendees at Quorum tonight will witness a high-level convo on a range of “science-fictionesque” projects that NIAC supports, which is shaping up to become the next generation space technology.
How does this tie-in with Philly’s maker community? Well, the trio from NASA will also be sharing details on an upcoming maker competition aimed at developing designs that would be able to survive on the Venusian surface. Feedback from Philly makers will help guide NASA as it sets up the guidelines for the competition.
