This Philly tech holiday party is donating proceeds to Big Brothers Big Sisters

A 12-year-old Fairmount kiddo named Nick from the Big Brothers Big Sisters program was tech consultant Michael Bertoni’s introduction to Philly back in 2004 when he was finding his way through town after moving in from Central Jersey.

“I wanted to get more involved in the community and it was just phenomenal working with this kid,” said Bertoni, the cofounder of consulting company PhillyTech.co, who took Nick on as his “little,” aka his mentee.

This connection led the boisterous Bertoni to pick the nonprofit as the recipient of 20 percent of ticket sales for his upcoming event, billed as the 1st Annual Philly Tech Community Holiday Party, happening on Dec. 13 at Rittenhouse music venue Coda.

(Philadelphia New Tech Meetup might object to the presumption that this is the first annual Philly Tech holiday party, as that group has long organized an end-of-year holiday shindig, even before it changed its name.)

“It’s meant to just to be a great party for the tech community in Philly: great people, execs, engineers,” Bertoni said. “Everybody’s invited.”
