Folks from tech consulting firm Weidenhammer, headquartered in Wyomissing, Pa., with offices in the Wayne area, are taking the
R5 Paoli/Thorndale line into town Aug. 17 for a happy hour sesh at Independence Beer Garden.
Why? Of course it has to do with connecting to the local tech scene, but tapping into Philly’s talent pool is also part of the equation.
“Weidenhammer was started as a technology consulting firm near Reading in 1978, but has had a presence in the metro Philadelphia marketplace since the mid ’90s,” said the company’s Jeff Whitlock.
Weidenhammer has seven U.S. offices and a development lab in Argentina.
“There is no formal agenda: strictly a social networking event,” Whitlock said, though he adds that the meetup is also a way to market the company in an informal way to the local tech community.

As told by our beloved gateway offices tag, and judging by one of the more recent programs from the Department of Commerce, suburban companies tapping into Philly’s talent pool is an ongoing trend.
But don’t sleep on suburban companies: meet them (and their open jobs) at NET/WORK Suburbs happening Sept. 26.
