Seer Interactive expands its West Coast office

For Wil Reynolds, founder of NoLibs marketing agency Seer Interactive, there’s an economic development motive behind his company’s latest expansion.

“It’s very important to us that we contribute to the economic development of areas on the brink of transformation and rejuvenation,” said Reynolds in a press release published Monday detailing his company’s expansion out west.

The SEO-focused agency, which in 2013 set up a three-person beachhead in San Diego, Calif., to access talent and clients, now has a 25-employee SoCal crew that will move into a new 7,000-square-foot office come November. The projection, Reynolds said, is to triple that presence in the near future.

“We have eclipsed our ability to house the team in the [current] office,” the founder said. “Our growth there was bigger than we expected. We also are seeing a lot more opportunity in the region that we will start going after and we’ll need the space for people.”

All told, Seer’s staff is at 137, including the 112 that are posted up at that prime NoLibs location next to the Schmidt’s Commons, the Rialto. The area is shaping up to be a mini tech hub these days: WeWork’s inaugural Philly location is a few steps away.

In the context of the company’s growth spurt across the country, we’re wondering how Seer is feeling about Philly as permanent location of its main office. Would Seer consider flipping the board and making San Diego the company’s headquarters (a la Monetate’s “spiritual head” in New York”) with the bulk of its staff in NoLibs? In other words, will keeping the company’s HQ in Philly always make sense to Reynolds?

“Can’t say that. Would like to, but ‘always’ is a bit permanent,” he said.
