Powered by Philly-based visual shopping company Curalate, the site lets shoppers pick items on Instagram and pay for them through Amazon Pay. The retailer is the first company to get this built-in payment capability, part of a beta program rolled out by Amazon’s payment system, which lets shoppers pay for stuff using their Amazon account.

“Customers increasingly discover new products through platforms like Facebook and Instagram, which is why Moda Operandi and other ecommerce-focused brands work with Curalate to connect discovery to site traffic and ultimately revenue,” Curalate honcho Apu Gupta said in a press release. “By enabling remote checkout via Amazon Pay, customers who want to shop Moda Operandi’s Instagram feed now have a much simpler and easier path to purchase.”

Curalate, which employs around 170 people after its expansion to London, bills Like2Buy as “Instagram’s missing link” on its website. Instagram, however, rolled out a similar in-app functionality called Instagram Shopping in November of last year with an initial 20 brands including Warby Parker and Kate Spade.

At the time, Gupta welcomed the development in an email to Technical.ly.

“We’re excited about this development, as it validates what we’ve been saying for years: consumers today discover brands and products through visual content and that visual content needs to become aware of what’s inside of it,” Gupta wrote then. “As more brands become aware of the need to make their visual content intelligent, more brands will need to turn to Curalate to aggregate, tag, and distribute this content to the myriad consumer touchpoints they use to engage and capture consumers. In short, this is a win for Curalate.”
