It all happened in a Belgian town called Ghent.
Over the years, the conference has hit cities like New York, Amsterdam, Tel Aviv and Sydney, but this year — from Oct. 26 to 27 — it’s finally Philly’s turn to host the global event.

How did Philly finally get the nod? Well, a lot of it has to do with the Philly DevOps meetup group, which has been getting IT professionals from both sides of the aisle to talk things out since 2014.
Yash Prabhu, marketing coordinator for the event, said Philly’s active dev community and bustling tech scene also had a lot to do with Philly landing the event series.
“It’s going to be a different kind of conference,” said Prabhu, who described the talk-heavy schedule as an admixture of TED and Ignite.
Aware of the diversity challenges that frequently plague the tech scene, Prabhu mentioned organizers are offering a 20 percent discount for tickets to underrepresented communities. Just use “PHILLYDEVOPS” as a promotional code at checkout.
