Old City-based design shop Tonic Design is playing host to an urgent discussion for the Philly tech scene.

On Sept. 21, from 5:30-8:30 p.m, the event — titled Being a Force For Change: A Women in Tech Roundtable — will take on two pressing questions: how to encourage future generations of girls to follow a STEM career path, and how to put an end to the obstacles women often face in the field.

Although the discussion will be open to the floor, there’s a solid lineup of guest speakers:

Jennifer Torre, Senior Quality Assurance Engineer at Tonic and organizer of the event, said she hopes it will serve to give women in the industry a platform to discuss important issues.

“We wanted to have this roundtable so we could bring together women from all disciplines in the local tech scene and have honest discussions about the common barriers we face as minorities in our field,” Torre said in a press release.
