Archna Sahay gets candid about tech’s diversity problem

City of Philadelphia Director of Entrepreneurial Investment Archna Sahay sat down with Generocity Lead Reporter Tony Abraham for a public Slack interview last week.

It was revealing and interesting and good.

Generocity has the recap:

“I think it is really interesting that you have a person of color and a woman leading the efforts of this extremely influential sector in Philadelphia,” she said of her role in helping to level the playing field for entrepreneurs of color. “That sends a very strong signal.”

The city’s startup czar opened up on:

  • Her immigration story (moving to the U.S. from India when she was five years old)
  • The issue of inclusion and diversity (being a woman and a person of color leading an influential sector)
  • How to engage with underrepresented communities
