If you’re looking for off-street parking in Philadelphia, there’s now an app for that.
SpotHero, the app that lets drivers find parking spots in five U.S. cities, launched its service in Philly last week, during Philly Tech Week 2016 presented by Comcast. Users can locate, book and pay for parking at 55 locations in and around Center City.
“Our decision to launch in Philadelphia was in large part a response to demand from parking operators as well as drivers who have used and relied on SpotHero in other cities,” said Mark Lawrence, cofounder and CEO of SpotHero.
The service is available as an app for iOS and Android, and it may also be used through the website. The company partners with parking operators who provide access to their unsold spots. Drivers are then able to find and reserve parking with garages and valets.
Parking has been fertile ground for apps and digital initiatives in Philly. Last year, an app called Pango was released in Philadelphia to allow mobile payment for parking in the city. Two more apps called Parking and ParkSnap were also launched, with the purpose of reminding users when their meters would be up. There’s also the Philadelphia Parking Authority’s app offering, meterUP.
