Women in Media Philly, a collective that aims to make the media industry more diverse, added a tech and entrepreneurship component to its third annual Women in Media Conference.
In addition to panels on women in media and a keynote from iHeartMedia’s Loraine Ballard Morrill, the conference will be hosting a web development workshop, taught by Delaware’s Dominique Clarke (of the newly launched Zip Code Wilmington), as well as a session on entrepreneurship and how to monetize content. It’s the first year Women in Media Philly is hosting a web dev workshop.

It’s a nod to the pervasiveness of technology these days. Tech isn’t just an industry — it touches everything.
“Web development has such a huge impact on businesses; marketing; networking,” wrote WIM Philly cofounder and communications specialist Haniyyah Sharpe-Brown. “As businesses shift or grow they must find more creative ways to communicate and understand the ‘how’ of engaging with their audiences.”
Update (9/11/15, 3:21 p.m.)
Sharpe-Brown writes in with additional information about the workshop:

The workshop covers the fundamentals of web development in layman terms. This is a no-code workshop. It covers basic concepts like the difference between a client and a server, the difference between backend and front end code, the tools needed to develop a website, and the typical web development team. This class is for people with little to no technical experience.
