For Chris Thompson, 3D printing was a hobby that turned into a job.
The Hive76 board member joined Washington Avenue makerspace NextFab as a 3D printing supervisor nearly three years ago. Now he’s leaving to run Philadelphia University’s fabrication lab out of the school’s College of Architecture and the Built Environment.
“I want to print on the moon some day,” he wrote in an email, “so knowing some architecture will help.”
He’s also excited about pursuing his master’s degree while at PhilaU (employees get discounted classes).
