Uber: on-demand car service is going down the shore

Aside from normal Uber service, the Jersey Shore will get the upscale UberBLACK and the downscale UberX.

Uber, the on-demand car service that launched in Philadelphia two years ago, is now serving the Jersey Shore. Memorial Day Weekend was its first weekend serving beaches from Brigantine to Cape May.

Aside from normal Uber service, the Jersey Shore will get the upscale UberBLACK and the downscale UberX. UberX, the cheaper version of the service that allows normal people to act as drivers, is not available in Philadelphia, though Uber was testing it in South Jersey.

“The city of Philadelphia has proven time and time again to be against innovation,” an Uber rep told PhillyMag earlier this year.
