Two organizations are fighting a legal battle over what has been called a “cancer cure” developed at Penn, Newsworks reported.

St. Jude’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tenn. sued Penn in 2012, saying that Penn broke the organizations’ research agreement. Penn countersued St. Jude’s, challenging its patent for the cancer treatment that Penn is using.

The two parties are set to meet with a federal judge later this month.

Research agreements are subject to legal battles every step of the way: Boston Children’s Hospital is currently engaged in a lawsuit with North Jersey-based pharmaceutical company Celgene over royalties it says its owed on cancer drugs, the Wall Street Journal reported.
