
WHO’S GETTING FUNDED?
ShopRunner, the Conshohocken ecommerce shipping service that spun out of GSI Commerce when it was bought by Ebay, received a $75 million investment from Alibaba Group Holding, a Chinese ecommerce giant, according to a report on The Next Web, though The Next Web was not yet able to confirm the news, reported by the Wall Street Journal and the Financial Times. Alibaba previously invested in Fanatics, ShopRunner’s sister company that’s based in Jacksonville, Fla.
WHO’S GETTING BUZZ?
About two dozen Philly-area tech companies made the annual Inc. 5000 list of fastest growing companies in the country, including King of Prussia-based clinical payment company Greenphire (#192), Exton-based insurance software firm iPipeline (#2000), Manayunk web dev firm Intuitive Company (#1805) and Center City language software retailer Stroll (#1016). Visual analytics firm Curalate (and last year’s Philly Geek Awards’ Startup of the Year) has a new logo. Check it out below.
NextDocs appointed William Levering as its CFO, according to a release. Levering was formerly Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer at Hamilton, N.J.-based voice-driven software firm Voxware, Inc.
The Conshohocken life sciences software firm also appointed two new board members: Robert Steinkrauss and George Riedel. Steinkrauss, according to a release. Steinkrauss has held leadership positions at tech companies like Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Agiliance, Boston-based Core Security and Exinda, while Riedel is on the boards of companies like Boston-based PeerApp, San Jose-based Tessera Technologies and San Francisco-based Cloudmark.
