Philly Tech Talks hopes to create a space for engineers to learn about scaling products on a large level, says co-organizer and Perceptual Networks cofounder Cheyenne Ehrlich, who himself has scaled web properties to 30 to 40 million users, he says. [Updated, see below] Ehrlich says this kind of education seemed to be missing in Philly.

Most of the speakers will be from out-of-town, Ehrlich says, because there aren’t too many local engineers with experience scaling at such a large level. (Though hopefully, this could change that.)
Ehrlich also stresses that the talks will be highly technical and will probably go over the heads of non-engineers.
Updated 11/6/12 9:38 a.m. to reflect that Ehrlich has scaled web properties to 30 to 40 million users, not 30 to 40 billion users.
