Philadelphia just named its first Chief Data Officer: Mark Headd, according to a tweet by city CIO Adel Ebeid, who, as an aside, either tweets in third-person or has someone else handling the account.
Headd, a familiar face in Philly’s tech and civic hacking scene, was hired by Code for America just this past spring to lead its governmental relations efforts. While his position involved extensive travel, his office was based in Philly.
He’s no stranger to the public sector, having started his career in Delaware and New York state government. He currently lives in Wilmington, Del.
We’ll have more information on the hire and Headd’s plans soon. Next up for the city on its data path is to pull together a governance board.-30-
