Entrepreneurship Week: first-ever training boot camp for entrepreneurs

In honor of its annual Entrepreneurship Week, the Empowerment Group currently holding its first-ever Entrepreneurship Training Boot Camp to offer guidance and mentorship to budding entrepreneurs in Philadelphia.

The bootcamp started yesterday and will run until Thursday. Training sessions are focused on personal development, marketing yourself and your business, financial planning and business management.

The entire course costs $50, but you can drop in to a specific program for $15.

To learn more about the programming check out the event page. The entire course will run in Terra Hall (Room 905) at the University of the Arts. The full Entrepreneurship Week kicks off next week on April 16, 2012 with 11 free workshops and networking on all aspects of entrepreneurship, according to a press release. All E-week events are free and open to the public.

Here are a few of the key E-week events you might want to check out:

  • Idea Blast: a brainstorming workshop on creative business ideas.
    When: April 16, 2012; 12:00 to 1:30 pm.
  • How to Start a Co-Op: exploring cooperatives in Philadelphia. Panel speakers include representatives from Keystone Development Center, the Anti-Repression Resource and Training Alliance and the Kensington Community Food Co-Op.
    When: April 17, 2012; 6:00 to 7:30 pm.
  • The Women’s Entrepreneur Circle: Interactive session for local women entrepreneurs to network and develop relationships.
    When: April 19, 2012; 12 to 2 pm.
  • Closing Celebration: Ceremony showcasing the Boot Camp business projects as well as a keynote address, a networking session and a “call to action” from Neal Kleinman, Senior Fellow at the University of the Arts’ Corzo Center for the Creative Economy.
    When: April 19, 2012; 7 to 9 pm
