Tonight we celebrate Philadelphia’s technology community at our Signature Event, where there will be an open bar, delicious food and a keynote from Rich Negrin, Managing Director of the City Of Philadelphia, about the future of online transparency and technology-infused good government initiatives in city government.

Signature Event — 6:30 PM

To celebrate the first ever Philly Tech Week, come out to WHYY for a gala event, where technology community leaders will be honored, notable regional leaders will speak to the importance of innovation and, yes, there will be an open bar. Taking place at the Dorrance H. Hamilton Public Media Commons at WHYY, more than 200 technology community leaders will attend the Philly Tech Week Signature event. Attending will be all of Philly Tech Week’s sponsors, event organizers and Technically Philly community members, making it the largest and most diverse gathering of the city’s technology community. On hand will be representatives from the city government, the city’s entrepreneurial community, IT professionals, startups and online media workers. We have several notable keynote speakers tentatively scheduled. PhillyR Meeting — 7:00 PM

Network science is a family of statistical methods used to describe and analyze graphical structures. There are two primary packages for doing this analysis in R: igraph and Statnet. Drew Conway, PhD candidate from NYU’s Department of Politics, we discuss how to use these R packages to perform network analysis.
