The data behind Philly’s income inequalities
Per capita income (PCI) by zip code is a more accurate measurement of Philadelphia’s growth than gross regional product, job growth and capital investment, according to researchers from the Community College of Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania.
By measuring PCI, the total pretax annual income of all individuals 15 and older divided by the area’s population, local government can better understand economic development in the city and work on initiatives.
