Inside Data Center Alley’s hot summer

Virginia has the largest data center market in the world, with more than 300 centers, earning the nickname “Data Center Alley.”

On average, data centers use roughly one kilowatt of power per square meter, but these buildings can be thousands of square meters each and consume energy 24/7. That’s a huge toll on the power grid for the state to deal with, but new ways to make it more efficient may be coming soon.
