Live election coverage for Pennsylvania

It’s a big day for the whole country, but the stakes are higher in swing states like Pennsylvania. So far, Cambria County and other central PA locations have seen some technical issues, with extended hours at some polling places.

In Philadelphia, social media users are reporting heavy turnout with long lines at polling places around the city. Check out Technical.ly’s PA election results page to follow the results as they come in this evening.

Underrepresentation of Hispanic tech workers

As the number of tech jobs continues to rise — projected to grow 13% by 2030 — the data shows Hispanic people are wildly underrepresented in the sector. In some US cities, fewer than 5% of tech workers are Hispanic.

We looked at the data for six East Coast cities and explored some of the challenges the demographic faces when it comes to representation in tech, from a lack of resources for Hispanic youth to inaccuracies in collecting race and ethnicity data for the diverse Hispanic demographic.
