NESTER, founded by former Sallies president Brendan Kennealey, is an app that calculates when you’ll need to do maintenance on your house, and about how much it will cost. That means you can save for big jobs like a new HVAC over time. The tool is now free for NCC homeowners and residents looking to buy a home.

DC-based AI startup raises $8.5M

AI could lead to breakthroughs in healthcare, including identifying foods that can make people sick, DC correspondent Kaela Roeder reports.

Alexandria-based HyperSpectral raised $8.5 million during its Series A round. The firm uses artificial intelligence in conjunction with spectral data, which includes everything from ultraviolet to infrared light range, to identify “unwanted substances,” cofounder and CEO Matt Theurer told Technical.ly.
