This week Baltimore had a deja vu moment: The feds announced another round of funding for its Tech Hubs program…and left us out, again. Separately, local startup EcoMap Technologies logged a multi-million dollar raise — its largest to date.

• What will Baltimore look like in 250 years? You voted that it will house a public transit system powered entirely by zero-emissions solar technology, and that the  Chesapeake Bay’s oyster and blue crab populations will be fully restored. [Technical.ly]

• The state and the University of Maryland are partnering with IonQ in a $1 billion initiative to make the Maryland the “Capital of Quantum,” with a planned quantum intelligence campus at the school’s College Park outpost. [IonQ]

• The University of Maryland Medical System launched a remote fetal monitoring center in Linthicum. It tracks fetal heart rate and uterine contraction patterns and uses AI to organize the data. [UMMS]

• Investment firm Brown Advisory appointed Logie Fitzwilliams as co-CEO to join current CEO and president Mike Hankin. [Baltimore Fishbowl]

•  Dan Gincel, a longtime leader of Maryland-backed venture investor TEDCO’s vehicles for supporting stem cell research and medical technology, died on Christmas Eve. Colleagues remembered his passion for the life sciences and his sense of humor. [Technical.ly]

• Constellation, headquartered in Baltimore, purchased the natural gas and geothermal power provider Calpine for $16.4 billion. [Associated Press]

• Global sports apparel firm Fila is laying off 130 employees in Maryland. [Baltimore Banner]
