The Software Engineer role is involved in each phase of the software development lifecycle including design, development, deployment and maintenance. The primary focus will be on enhancing our Ecommerce platforms supporting the online shopping experience for our brands including Anthropologie.com, UrbanOutfitters.com, FreePeople.com, bhldn.com and ShopTerrain.com, developing customer facing applications, and the ability to work with or in existing store brands.

Responsibilities·       Development of microservices and event driven systems

·       Participate in sprint planning, develop functional and performance testing strategy

·       Develop new product features and advance the design of existing code for the Ecommerce applications

·       React to possible production issues

·       Enjoys working in a collaborative team setting.

Required Qualifications·       Understanding of OO principles and design patterns

·       1-3 years of professional software development experience

·       Experience with related technologies including JSON, REST, HTML, AJAX, CSS

·       Self-starter, ready to learn new concepts and technologies.

·       Demonstrated experience with Python or Golang

·       Demonstrated understanding of RESTful services design

·       Demonstrated data modeling skills

·       Strong communications skills

·       Eager to develop and grow their skills as part of a dynamic engineering organization

Preferred Skills
  • Familiarity with search solutions like Elastic Search, Solr
  • Demonstrated experience with Unit Testing frameworks and mocking libraries
  • Familiar with Django or other ORM frameworks
  • Experience with Tornado/Flask or other web server technologies
  • Experience with Vue.js or React or similar web frameworks
  • Experience with any NoSQL DB
  • Exposure to data science and Machine learning technologies
  • Understanding of cloud hosting platforms and infrastructure
  • Help determine the requirements, then plan, design, and develop complex and business critical software solutions
  • Familiar with asynchronous message processing technologies
EducationBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar schooling/training with demonstrable skills.
