Senior iOS Software Engineer Overview The URBN Mobile Engineering Team is responsible for creating and delivering iOS & Android applications for our major brands: Urban Outfitters, Anthropologie, and Free People, as well as a suite of applications that power our In-Store retail experiences. We work closely with embedded product, user experience, and design teams to build performant and forward-thinking e-commerce experiences for our customers.   • Apply your expert knowledge of Swift & iOS development to work on a small team whose work impacts millions of users every day
  • Partner with product owners and design teams to understand requirements and define an MVP feature priority
  • Contribute to the architectural and design decisions your team makes and be able to articulate the impact of those decisions by effectively communicating technical challenges and solutions to external audiences
  • Build reusable components with elegant, intuitive interfaces
  • Breakdown features into focused units of work, estimate release schedule, and work on the feature with your team
  • Collaborate with other engineers on the teamn by pair-programming and reviewing code.
  • Contribute to code and design reviews, evangelize best engineering practices, and participate in weekly Mobile Team learning sessions
  • Approach work with a customer-focused attitude and understand that shipping impactful software involves trade-offs and collaboration.
  • Have a strong sense of ownership and a curiosity to understand how things work, even if they take you outside your area of expertise.
  • Bring a thoughtful perspective, empathy, creativity, and a positive attitude to take on difficult challenges.
  • Have an opinion about what code to test and how to test it
  • Collaborate with other engineering teams and architects to develop new features
  • Advocate for the principles of accessibility, and build interfaces accessible to users with disabilities
  • Work with privacy and security teams to ensure the application is properly architected and maintained
  • Experience vetting & integrating 3rd party vendor libraries is a plus
  • 4+ years professional experience as an iOS team lead and/or senior engineer
  • Expert knowledge of Swift, the iOS SDK & related frameworks (Objective-C experience a plus)
  • Experience designing mobile applications to consume RESTful APIs
  • Fundamental understanding of the HTTP/HTTPs protocol and caching strategies
  • Experience developing, delivering, and supporting multiple native iOS applications
  • Experience leading software projects with source control systems like GitHub
  • Passion for UI/UX development and creating premium experiences
  • Solid foundation in data structures, algorithms, object-oriented programming, MVC architecture, and iOS design patterns
  • Deep understanding of multi-threading, memory management, networking, caching, performance optimization, localization, and security for mobile applications
  • Experience with modern build strategies, continuous integration, unit testing, test driven development, static analysis, and automated integration tests
  • Well versed with Agile methodology
  • Familiar with modern dependency management tools such as Swift Package Manager, CocoaPods &/or Carthage
  • Experience driving adoption of software engineering standard methodologies
  • Knowledgeable in SOLID design principles
  • Experience with Accessibility, Localization, and Internationalization
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and collaboration skills to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment
Bonus Skills (not required)
  • Ecommerce experience handling product catalogs and payment collection / processing for a large consumer base.
  • Curious about Swift UI, Combine, Async / Await
  • Willingness to learn some Android when needed (we have a cross-platform mobile team)
  • Knowledge of iOS SDK performance tools and optimization techniques
  • Programmatic layout (not interface builder)
  • Knowledge of the Coordinator Pattern
