OverviewUrban Outfitters Inc. (URBN) is seeking a skilled and experienced Sr. DevOps engineer to join its growing eCommerce Operations Team.  The right candidate is self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a team.  You posess exceptional troubleshooting and analytical skills and will have the opportunity to work with MongoDB, Kubernetes, Cassandra, Kafka, ElasticSearch as well as continuous integration and deployment pipelines.

 

Responsibilities
  • Work directly with the DevOps team and Senior DevOps manager to test system integrity
  • Design and implement build, deployment, and configuration management
  • Test implemented designs
  • Build and test automation tools for infrastructure provisioning
  • Handle code deployments in all environments
  • Monitor metrics and develop ways to improve
  • Provide technical guidance and educate team members and coworkers on development and operations
  • Brainstorm for new ideas and ways to improve development delivery
  • Consult with peers for feedback during testing stages
  • Build, maintain, and monitor configuration standards
  • Maintain day-to-day management and administration of projects
  • Manage CI and CD tools with team
  • Document and design various processes; update existing processes

 

Qualifications
  • 8+ years’ experience in an operational or software development role.
  • Unix/Linux knowledge is a must
  • Previous experience with the following technologies
  • Web servers such as Apache or Nginx
  • Managing and maintaining a configuration management tool such as puppet or chef
  • Automation tools such Jenkins, Terraform, or Ansible
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform or AWS a plus

 

EducationBachelor’s Degree in CS, MIS, or a related field.

Yen Duong, Software Engineer at URBN: One of the best things is that most of us are customers of the brands we work on. As a user of my product, it’s easy to understand the feedback we get from customers and the problems we need to solve.

No day is the same. We deploy new code every week. There are always new challenges and we’re allowed to research and introduce new technologies.

Carolina Fojo, UX Research Manager at URBN: Research is such a strategic place to be at URBN. We’re constantly thinking about our customers and the growth opportunities. There’s no end in sight when you’re dealing with millions of customers. The opportunities are endless, which is really exciting.
