Job Description

The Tactile Group is seeking a full-time policy communication specialist to provide programmatic support on policy communication for a federally-funded education project that reaches all 50 states and several territories. The policy communication specialist will provide specialized knowledge to users to answer questions about policy guidance on the collection and reporting of federally required data as well as strategies on a data collection system usage. This position will write communication and provide training support around policies. Communication will take the form of email and phone interactions as well as webinars and virtual trainings. This is a high touch position requiring daily interaction with federal and state leaders as well as project team members. Knowledge on the subject matter is not a prerequisite; training will be provided on the policy knowledge required.

 

Note: While The Tactile Group is an application development company, this position is not IT-related. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

To perform this job successfully, applicants must demonstrate the ability to:

  • Provide excellent service, including well-written and timely response to inquiries to provide training and support for users as needed
  • Interact with to a variety of stakeholders in federal government, state government, and local programs 
  • Act as first line of support for inquiries, sourcing information from appropriate Subject Matter Experts based on complexity of inquiry
  • Provide expert-level support in articulating policy guidance for federal reporting requirements 
  • Organize, write, edit, and present information for a variety of audiences
  • Assist in preparing and delivering webinars and training on policy guidance
  • Collect data from various reports and sources
  • Run reports and perform basic level analysis on inquiries received
  • Tally and analyze question type volumes to create FAQs
  • Ensure compliance with Section 508 of the Americans with Disabilities Act as it relates to digital information presentation and delivery
  • Provide additional support to Project Manager(s) on federal education contracts

 

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

To qualify for this position, applicants must have:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Minimum 3 years (5+ years preferable) in communications, federal government, or education
  • Ability to undergo a background check and qualify for public trust security clearance for the federal government
  • Willingness to occasionally travel to client offices in Washington, DC (1-4 times per year) and company headquarters in Philadelphia (1-2 times per year)
  • Dedication to meticulous communication and exceptional quality of deliverables

 

Familiarity with education and afterschool programs is not required, but will greatly enhance the successful candidate’s ability to hit the ground running.

 

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

  • Verification of employment eligibility in the United States without restrictions is required.
  • Must be able to maintain a high-risk public trust clearance.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
