Nuix is looking for a Sr. Software Engineering Manager to help lead a team of brilliant engineers in our Herndon office. You will collaborate with cross-functional (UI/UX design, DevOps, Performance and Security) and geographically distributed teams to create industry leading products for eDiscovery, Investigations and Cybersecurity. In this role, you will be managing a group of software development engineers, partnering closely with product management, to ensure deliverables meet functional requirements, on time, with the highest quality. Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead one or two teams of approximately 10 engineers.
  • Mentor and coach engineer of all skill levels
  • Provide regular feedback and coaching on job performance.
  • Oversee the development of products and/or components through the entire product lifecycle in a fast-paced agile environment.
  • Interface with other engineering teams and product managers to ensure projects are successful in both features and technical focus
  • Responsible for high-level architecture and infrastructure decisions.
  • Collaborate with peers across the organization to ensure seamless integration between products and components.
  • Must maintain strong technical expertise to install, troubleshoot, test and demonstrate the product or component your team is building.
  • Directly responsible for achieving and maintaining the highest levels of product quality.
  • Maintain a climate of fostering high levels of employee motivation, performance, and commitment.
  • Will have an opportunity to mentor less experienced Software Engineering Managers.

In our cross-functional and geographically distributed environment you will need to be an excellent collaborator, who is able to network within the business and technical community establishing solid contacts. Influence, persuasion and conflict management skills are a must, along with excellent verbal/written communication ability. To be successful in this role, a candidate must have proven ability to build trust, inspire others, attract top talent, communicate effectively, gain commitment and align performance for success.

As a Senior Software Engineering Manager, you will report to the Head of Engineering and must be a strong technical leader as well as an independent, critical and analytic thinker who can rapidly adapt to changing business and customer demands.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics/Statistics or Engineering. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Must have 7+ years of experience leading teams of 6 or more engineers.
  • Must have 10 years of professional experience in software engineering. Experience building commercial products preferred.
  • Experience designing and building enterprise web applications.
  • Experience with HTTP and RESTful web services.
  • Some experience with Java, Spring, JavaScript and/or React.
  • Experience building software for the cloud (SaaS, Private Cloud, Hybrid Cloud) is strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with big data solutions like Hadoop, Elastic Stack, BDAS and Spark preferred.
  • Knowledge of Continuous Integration and Deployment tools.
  • Familiarity with Docker and/or Windows Containers.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Must have strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in eDiscovery, Cybersecurity and/or Investigations is highly desirable.
