As a Lead Software Engineer at ShopRunner, you’ll be driving technology and architecture decisions on our various consumer facing platforms. We’ll be looking to you to help create, test and deploy solutions that integrate seamlessly, all at scale.

You should have experience initiating major architectural or language changes. And of course, you should be a leader when it comes to your knowledge of JavaScript.


  • Analyze and evaluate existing technologies in order to plan and lead architectural improvements
  • Work closely with stakeholders on product, data, UX and engineering to ensure your technical solutions meet business needs
  • Mentor other engineers
  • Work with back-end developers to Integrate UI with JSON APIs and other distributed systems
  • Research, recommend and implement new technologies


    • 7+ years of experience as a change agent making architectural and/or language decisions
    • Experience communicating and convincing key stakeholders of technological change
    • Expert-level JavaScript skills
    • Expert-level HTML & CSS skills
    • Experience with unit testing and JavaScript testing frameworks
    • Experience with JS build tools
    • Experience building modular JS code-bases (e.g. ES6/AMD/UMD/CommonJS/SystemJS module systems)
    • Experience with JQuery and other JavaScript frameworks such as React or Angular
    • Flexibility to work with multiple integration points
    • Experience optimizing web applications to increase speed, scalability, and extensibility
    • Experience building service-oriented solutions and RESTful microservices is a plus
    • Experience java based web frameworks such as Spring boot is a plus
    • Comfort using cloud technologies, open source frameworks, Agile practices, and working with product development from both a user experience and User Interface technology perspective.

ShopRunner”s East Coast office is located in one of several buildings that comprise a new commercial and residential campus in Conshohocken, Pa. The open-concept office includes designated desks for employees as well as communal conference spaces. Whiteboard walls covered in code wrap around the interior of almost every room.

One particular board in the entryway stands out: designated the “Wall of Wonder,” Polaroids of each employee are neatly strung along like a colorful DIY clothing line, serves as a tool for new employees to put a face to a name in the office and as a way for team members to get to know one another.

Each week the board features a fun question like “What is your favorite restaurant?” Employees write their answers in below their snapshots.
