Nava is working to improve the lives of millions of people through reimagining their experiences with government services, and we’re looking for a Research Lead to help us organize, direct, and communicate our research efforts with government agencies.
You’ll work with the broader design and research team at Nava to facilitate, craft, and execute our research strategy. You’ll work with government agencies and our product teams to identify focus areas for research, structure research plans and recruiting strategies, and help conduct interviews and workshops. • A deep familiarity with qualitative research methodologies and digital accessibility best practices
  • Experience coordinating user research efforts on a variety of projects
  • An adaptive, empathetic, collaborative, and positive mindset
  • Comfortable with ambiguous, rapidly-evolving environments with many parallel threads
  • Excellent written and verbal communicator

We are stewards – we hold a deep responsibility towards the systems that we work with. We are a community – we value collaboration both within our teams and with the many hardworking people within government. We offer generous compensation and equity packages and value a healthy work/life balance.
We care deeply about diversity and inclusion at Nava. We are an equal opportunity employer and do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.
Note that we participate in E-Verify and upon hire, will provide the federal government with your Form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.

About Us

In Washington, D.C., working for the government can sometimes mean being constrained by complex work environments that can limit someone from having a big impact. For civic technology company Nava, that is far from the truth.

As the only public benefit corporation to be to be working directly with the government, Nava provides high-performing services to federal government agencies like the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Centers For Medicare & Medicaid Services. Essentially, they work to hold themselves accountable for delivering quality work that is both innovative and impactful. One of their biggest accomplishments to date was assisting President Obama and his administration in repairing after its rollout in winter 2013. Since then, Nava has expanded their offices to San Francisco, are currently hiring engineers of all flavors (devops, full stack, front end), designers and product and project managers to work on some of the government’s biggest systemic challenges.

Referring to themselves as “stewards of public service,” Nava employees say the tenacity and humility of their work makes them unique amongst their competitors. Tackling some of the nation’s toughest issues is never an easy feat, but Nava is dedicated to providing a modern, impactful approach toward continuous improvement.

Nestled comfortably at 14th and U Street, Nava’s open layout office is home to a team of mission-driven designers, engineers and product developers.
