Nava is at the forefront of reimagining how our government serves its people and we’re looking for a Project Manager to help us execute on our mission of changing the digital services our government provides.
You’ll work with our government partners and across Nava’s engineering, design, and business teams to help move critical projects forward that improve the lives of millions of Americans. You think holistically and understand how the details of the project fit into the bigger picture, and take pride in working through highly ambiguous situations to deliver value to users. You have a strong bias towards action when faced with incomplete information, and communicate transparently to build consensus internally and externally.

What you’ll do

      • Work directly at the intersection of government and the Nava team to manage our sprint process, estimate our efforts, triage incidents, manage expectations, and communicate progress
      • Proactively build relationships with stakeholders within CMS (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services) and with other contractors
      • Understand the team’s objectives, systems, and capabilities in order to make decisions about project priorities and to help resolve issues
      • Coordinate multiple contractor teams to bring alignment to large ecosystems and create holistic success for everyone
      • Accurately report risks, successes, progress, and failures
      • Manage the team’s velocity and continually improve our processes for organizing ourselves and our work
      • Demonstrate a passion for learning, embrace change, and ask insightful questions particularly about business needs and IT capabilities

What we’re looking for

      • At least 3 years of experience as a Project Manager or Product Manager in a complex technical environment with multiple stakeholders working on web applications that have a user-centered focus
      • Experience with managing milestones, dependencies, complex integrations, communications, and stakeholder expectations
      • Experience using agile frameworks like lean, scrum, TDD, Less, and SAFE and familiarity with agile development practices such as continuous integration and continuous delivery
      • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
      • Ability to communicate clearly and increase transparency, with a strong competency in situational awareness and conflict resolution
      • Ability to grow and nurture existing a new client relationships to help drive prioritization across multiple projects and create ecosystems of success
      • An adaptive, proactive, empathetic, tenacious, and positive mindset
We’re a small team working to radically improve our government, so everyone that joins us has a direct impact on the direction and success of Nava. We are stewards – we hold a deep responsibility towards the systems that we work with. We are a community – we value collaboration both within our teams and with the many hardworking people within government. We offer generous compensation and equity packages and value a healthy work/life balance.
We care deeply about diversity and inclusion at Nava. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, or disability status.

About Us

In Washington, D.C., working for the government can sometimes mean being constrained by complex work environments that can limit someone from having a big impact. For civic technology company Nava, that is far from the truth.

As the only public benefit corporation to be to be working directly with the government, Nava provides high-performing services to federal government agencies like the Department of Veteran Affairs and the Centers For Medicare & Medicaid Services. Essentially, they work to hold themselves accountable for delivering quality work that is both innovative and impactful. One of their biggest accomplishments to date was assisting President Obama and his administration in repairing HealthCare.gov after its rollout in winter 2013. Since then, Nava has expanded their offices to San Francisco, are currently hiring engineers of all flavors (devops, full stack, front end), designers and product and project managers to work on some of the government’s biggest systemic challenges.

Referring to themselves as “stewards of public service,” Nava employees say the tenacity and humility of their work makes them unique amongst their competitors. Tackling some of the nation’s toughest issues is never an easy feat, but Nava is dedicated to providing a modern, impactful approach toward continuous improvement.

Nestled comfortably at 14th and U Street, Nava’s open layout office is home to a team of mission-driven designers, engineers and product developers.
