POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager is the project lead on a client account or project, ultimately responsible for the delivery of high-quality technical solutions that power client satisfaction, meet business requirements, and balance client and company economics. This role is responsible for overseeing and directing multiple digital marketing and technology projects at a time and ensuring that these projects meet or exceed internal team and client expectations and are delivered on-time and on-budget. The Senior PM will interface frequently with senior client marketing, technical, and executive management to ensure that the solution is understood and addresses the customer’s business requirements. The Senior PM is responsible for the accurate financial management of the projects to which she/he/they are assigned. Senior Project Managers work independently, with minimal input from their direct manager needed for job performance. In addition to the project responsibilities, this person is a key member of the business development team and career-manages at least one direct report.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management Skills and Knowledge

  • Solid understanding of project management best practices, including the ability to identify and resolve issues, manage risk, develop detailed work plans and specifications, estimate resource allocations and run team meetings. Ability to work on multiple projects and lead multiple project managers at one time.
  • PM Methodology: Knowledge and application of different project methodologies. Understands and applies SDLC and Agile delivery best practices in project plans, contracts and status reporting.  Also understands how to adapt and flex the methodology for different types of projects and client needs.
  • Team Leadership: Leads technical teams to deliver multiple or large, complex and cross-functional projects to completion based on scope and budget. Able to define process, communication plan and rules of engagement for projects and drive team adherence.
  • Project Finances: Expert in project financial management (forecasting, invoicing, margins, etc.) including different fee structures (fixed, T&M, retainer, etc.).  Understands how to proactively manage project finances based on these factors. Accurately calculates cost-to-complete estimates. 
  • Technology: Solid knowledge of today’s digital technologies and continuously learning/adapting to new technologies. Proficient with collaboration/productivity tools such as Jira, Confluence, Google and MS Office applications. Strong knowledge of website development life cycles, data analytics, quality assurance best practices and the delivery of solutions with creative and engineering components.
  • Scope Definition: Collaborates with the project team to identify the approach, deliverables, schedule and tools to deliver the project within established constraints. Scopes and estimates complex, multi-channel and/or deep technical engagements in partnership with technical leads. 
  • Execution: Manages delivery of agency work from inception to completion. Coordinates all activities of the project team and ensures that project tasks are completed by: scheduling and facilitating project-related team meetings (i.e. kick-offs, status, internal/client reviews, etc,), communicating action steps to team, and delivering weekly status reports to project team, the client and Engine Room management. Ensures that all project documentation is produced in the standard format, follows internal documentation processes and is reviewed and approved. Manages change request process, identifying and documenting impacts to scope, budgets and timing.
  • Business/UX Analysis: Review research and analytics, conduct site audits, create functional wireframes, workflows and process diagrams, and gather business requirements for technical solutions and integrations.
  • Client Relationship Management: Engages with client stakeholders. Builds rapport and credibility with clients based on trust and expert counsel. Has intimate understanding of client processes and priorities. Ensures project deliverables meet client requirements. Proactively sets and manages client expectations.
  • Sales and Business Development: Identify new business opportunities and projects with existing clients; pitch Engine Room services and solutions; provides responses and estimates for RFPs
  • Growing Talent: Able to grow junior PM talent and effectively manage any performance issues. Onboard and train new members to the team on delivery and operational processes.
  • Vendors/Partners: Manages 3rd party vendor and partner engagement, relationships, and contracts.

 

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 5+ years in technical or digital project management
  • Knowledge of digital marketing and related technologies required
  • Experience in business/systems analysis, UX/UI design and/or data analytics is a strong plus
  • Experience in marketing technology environment preferred; agency or consulting experience a plus
