As a Infrastructure Configuration Consultant within PNC's Data Center Planning organization, you can sit anywhere in PNC’s footprint. You will work within a team and report into the Data Center, Enterprise Infrastructure Manager. Hours 10PM-6AM Monday-Friday. As a Data Center Facilities Engineer and a member of PNC's Data Center Facilities Planning group within the Technology Infrastructure / Data Center and Cloud Products organization, you will be instrumental in helping to maintain PNC’s reputation for technology excellence and world class data center operations. Your area provides design, build, implementation and operations support in the following areas: mainframe hardware planning and installation, data center infrastructure planning and design, structured copper and fiber cabling systems design & implementation and technology infrastructure hardware installation support. As a key contributor, you will represent the Data Center Facilities team and provide data center facilities engineering and consulting to technology projects involving the build out of data center and/or technology infrastructure within PNC’s enterprise data centers. Your knowledge of data center facilities planning, experience in working within dynamic project teams and skill in coordinating and managing multiple tasks and activities with others will drive the success of PNC’s technology strategies and goals. You will also perform a variety of tasks related to, but not limited to, security access, coordinating system implementation, testing and troubleshooting support, coordinating and managing mainframe hardware and data center infrastructure maintenance activities and maintain internal systems for monitoring and housing Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) information. Your strong attention to detail skills will come into play as you assist in tracking relevant data center capacity metrics and provide regular reporting so we can increases capacity as necessary to fulfill business needs.   • Manages the requirements for planning, organizing, and implementing enterprise-wide technology infrastructure and configuration management functions.
  • Leads the planning, development, implementation and evaluation of major configuration changes from acquisition to termination.
  • Oversees the effective implementation and use of the configuration management process, methodology, tools, procedures, and audit activities.
  • Develops and publishes metrics to qualify and quantify configuration success; ensures that configuration practices are in compliance with standards.
  • Ensures the accuracy and validity of the configuration database for content on assets, major infrastructure and platform components, system documentation and service components.

Configuration Management – Knowledge of and ability to manage the process, tools and techniques for managing hardware, software, communications, facilities and personnel that provide the organization's IT services. IT Quality Assurance – Knowledge of and the ability to utilize a variety of specific technical tools and testing methods to ensure the quality of IT production. Performance Measurement and Tuning – Knowledge of and the ability to monitor, measure, and optimize individual and combined utilization of hardware, software and telecommunications components. Software Change Request Management – Knowledge of, and experience with, managing product change requests from customers, prospective customers, vendors, and internal staff. Software Product Installation and Support – Knowledge of, and experience in, helping customers install, integrate, and operationalize software products or systems. System and Technology Integration – Knowledge of the features and facilities of systems, and the ability to integrate and communicate among applications, databases and technology platforms. Systems Software Infrastructure – Knowledge of software technology, and the ability to plan global, regional and local software architecture and infrastructure components.

Work Experience

Roles at this level typically require a university / college degree, with 3+ years of relevant / direct industry experience. Certifications are often desired. In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education and experience (including military service) may be considered.
