Role purpose:

Elsevier Education Technology (EdTech) is developing a next generation product suite which will transform learning in the healthcare space. Reporting to the Lead Delivery Manager we now require a talented Platform Delivery Coordinator to manage a mixed development team working on this innovative teaching and learning environment.

As Platform Delivery Coordinator the successful candidate will work closely with the Lead Software Engineer and Platform Architect and will be accountable for scheduling deliverables, interfacing with an array of application development teams, working with the Product Owners from various Education products to suggest simple, maintainable product and project features which meet/anticipate customer needs, and managing the release of these features and the features of other products on the Platform into production.

This is a high profile position which will give the successful applicant visibility across all aspects of the project, a key role in API development and by shaping the capabilities of every product will ultimately be transformative to the business.

Key Deliverables:

  • Release management across all EdTech products which interface with the platform.
  • Writing technical user stories.
  • Governs the SDLC and related delivery metrics.
  • Act as liaison with other technical teams: partners with software and infrastructure providers to realize strategic goals; addresses aspects of architectural complexity, compatibility and platform diversity.
  • Acknowledged as an Agile authority; appraises development and business partners of platform technologies and trends; proactively identifies opportunities for using the platform for realizing business strategy.
  • Identifies, compares and recommends technical options provided by the platform.
  • Works with Technical Leads and Architects to define roadmaps for reducing cost, risk and complexity across a range of systems and technologies.
  • Engages in SDLC governance processes; upholds and applies Agile methods.
  • Works with the Lead Software Engineer and Architect to ensure systems meet critical non-functional needs;
  • Liaises with third party-partners and vendors across and between projects where applicable to ensure systems and integrations remain cohesive and adequately support enterprise wide purpose, reuse and scalability;
  • Coordinates with other Elsevier Technology (ETS) areas on the integration of new core technologies;
  • Acts as an internal consultant, advocate, mentor and change agent;
  • Researches and maintains knowledge in emerging technologies and possible application to the business;
  • Coordinates with other ETS areas on the integration of new core technologies;
  • Advises, mentors and coaches ETS staff where appropriate;
  • Produces applicable architectural artifacts (documentation, diagrams, roadmaps, etc) as determined to be necessary.

Preferred experience and technology requirements:

  • Strong hands-on experience with SDLCs
  • Release management for live production products
  • Experience of successful project/product completion (ideally involving simultaneous projects)
  • Experience managing and scheduling software platforms with dependent applications
  • Experience managing and scheduling distributed systems or microservices
  • Understanding of REST APIs
  • Experience working with live production environments
  • A background in Educational technology and/or healthcare and nursing is a plus
  • Open source or community experience is a plus
