Penn Interactive (PI) is an interactive gaming company headquartered in Philadelphia. As the digital arm to Penn National Gaming (NASDAQ: PENN), the largest regional casino operator in the U.S., we are poised for fast-paced growth in the sports betting and online casino space and have partnered with Barstool Sports to launch an online sportsbook.

 

We are seeking an FP&A Analyst who will be responsible for managing the cost centers and capital expenditures of the Barstool Sportsbook & Casino and Retail Sportsbook team. This role will be primarily responsible for monthly and annual P&L forecasting and budgeting processes as well as ad-hoc financial analysis. The FP&A Analyst will be responsible for analyzing and explaining business drivers for monthly results, forming recommendations, and updating future projections. This role will be responsible for explaining ‘what happened?’‘why did it happen?’ and ‘what are the financial implications going forward?’. This role will have detailed exposure to the Company’s P&L and will work with cross-functional teams and business owners to manage the expenses of the business. Additionally, this role will assist with scenario planning, projects, presentation creation and ad-hoc requests from business partners.

Responsibilities

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

 

  • Maintain effective financial models and reports to support financial planning and analysis of assigned business units including expenses, headcount, capital expenditures, and other related areas as needed.
  • Assist with development and submission of monthly and full-year P&L forecasts, budget planning and long-range planning.
  • Research and provide succinct forecast, budget and variance analysis to senior leadership as needed.
  • Proactively identify areas of opportunity and provide recommendations along with financial support to make business decisions.
  • Perform recurring and ad-hoc financial analyses as needed to assist in business decision-making.
  • Conduct financial research, analyze financial performance against targets, and determine financial trends in the business.
  • Assist with development and creation of senior leadership presentations as needed.
  • Develop and distribute appropriate weekly, monthly and/or annual reports as needed.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure to assist with financial planning and budgeting activities.
  • Anticipate and respond proactively to senior leadership requests.
  • Effectively partner with cross-functional teams to manage concurrent deliverables and deadlines.
  • Participate in development, implementation and maintenance of policies and procedures.
  • Develop a thorough understanding of assigned business units and Penn Interactive as well as on-going business needs.
  • Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.

  • Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited institution in Finance, Accounting, Economics or another related field.
  • 1 – 2 years of P&L analysis experience
  • Proficient data analysis and Microsoft Excel skills including but not limited to managing and manipulating large data sets, financial modeling, formulas, and functions (lookup formulas, conditional logic, financial formulas, data formatting, charts, pivot tables).
  • Critical thinking, analytical, communication skills and attention to detail:
    • Able to interpret data and synthesize into insights.
    • Deliver quality, thought out work in an articulate manner.
  • Highly responsive with a strong sense of time management and the ability to meet aggressive deadlines efficiently and effectively
  • Self-starter with excellent interpersonal skills; able to work autonomously but also operate as part of a strong, cohesive team, build relationships, and earn trust.
  • Demonstrates the desire to navigate roadblocks and deal with the unplanned or unexpected by finding alternative ways to get things done.
  • Positive attitude, intellectually curious and eager to make positive contributions to the team and business.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state and local regulations.

What are your 2021 plans for growth?

We’re currently headquartered in Philadelphia with offices in Cherry Hill, NJ and Las Vegas, NV. We’re looking to double in size, responsibly, over the course of the year.

Specifically, we’re looking to fill roles across engineering, mobile, front-end, data, cloud, QA, product, design, marketing, and CRM analytics.

 

As a company that has grown so big, so fast, talk to us about how the internal work culture has shifted.

The engineering team used to feel like a startup, but today it feels more like a real company, not because we have a big corporate feel, but we’ve implemented more official processes.

With 50-60 employees, the engineering team is still small enough to get to know most people and work collaboratively. We also work with other teams, but our processes allow each team to have autonomy over their part of the product so that they can put their own touch on things.

Part of our culture is that we’re open to the fact that new ideas come from anywhere. Any employee can draw up a proof of concept and build a demo.
