Technical Advisor, Eastern PA (Industrial Relations Coordinator 4) - PennTAP


The Pennsylvania Technical Assistance Program (PennTAP), which resides within the Office of the Senior Vice President for Research, is looking for a Technical Advisor, Eastern PA to join this growing program. As a Technical Advisor, you will be responsible for, but not limited to the following:


  • Building relationships with industry, project identification and implementation, reporting, student engagement and PennTAP liaison with Penn State faculty
  • Consulting with client organizations of all sizes and types to understand organizational issues and needs and provide consultation and training services.


You will be trained on PennTAP Energy services and assist with audits at small to mid-sized manufacturers as necessary. You will work closely with Penn State faculty and students to provide students with an opportunity to immerse their learning experience to go beyond the boundaries of the classroom and into the manufacturing world. These workplace solutions are expected to create new jobs and businesses.


You will be a part of the PennTAP team that maintains an uncompromising level of quality in all work assignments and you will follow up with clients to evaluate and ensure the effectiveness and return on investment (ROI) of solutions they implement. Your attention to detail and ability to organize workload will allow you to ensure that all projects are properly aligned with PennTAP, Penn State objectives, and that the deliverables meet time and budget requirements.


Education and Experience:


Typically requires a Master's degree or higher and 3 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Additional Required Competencies:


Competencies critical to success are: technical background, comfort within industrial facilities; results-oriented team player that works well independently; strong project management skills with an ability to organize a dynamic workload; ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with peers, resource partners, vendors, and clients; ability to collect, analyze and communicate information, data, and recommendations verbally and in formal reports; and ability to analyze, prioritize, and solve unique problems. Consulting experience with energy efficiency or pollution prevention is a plus.


This position requires interaction with companies and organizations in the Eastern Pennsylvania region and therefore, it is preferable if candidates are based in that region.


Background Check: This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver's license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks. Some overnight travel is required.
