The Fox School of Business at Temple University seeks Non-Tenure Track candidates for a faculty position with an administrative role as Director of Accelerator Programs, starting immediately.  The faculty rank will be determined by the candidate’s academic qualifications for the position.  Salary is highly competitive and commensurate with qualifications.

The Fox School of Business has recently established the Temple Venture Accelerator, providing students across all 17 schools and colleges with the skills, tools and knowledge to launch and grow their ventures. The Temple Venture Accelerator operates under the oversight of Fox’s Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute.

The ideal candidate will be a highly-motivated, energetic, results-driven leader who will create, launch, and run the Accelerator Program within the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute.  The Director will report to the Chair of the Strategic Management Department and work closely with the Executive Director of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship Institute.

Teaching Responsibilities

Subject areas of teaching broadly include Entrepreneurship and Innovation Management.  Preference will be given to candidates with experience in teaching Lean Start-up and Design Strategy/Design Thinking.

Administrative Responsibilities

The Accelerator Director will work with the IEI Executive Director and Managing Director to strategically develop, launch, and manage the accelerator with particular emphasis on building external business relationships and internal partnerships to ensure programs’ success. The director will lead operations, including venture recruiting, venture evaluation/selection, venture management, and will manage and advise cohorts of early stage startups and be responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accelerator.

Required Education and Experience

  • MBA or MS degree in entrepreneurship, innovation, strategy, management, or related discipline with at least six [6] years of demonstrated success in same or related fields. An equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated passion for innovation and entrepreneurship as drivers of economic activity and creators of jobs.
  • Strong familiarity with or experience in a university setting.
  • Program management or operations management experience
  • Entrepreneurial experience and familiarity with Philadelphia’s business ecosystem, including an established network of contacts with companies and industry groups, investors, entrepreneurs, and technology transfer professionals.
  • Demonstrated experience working with idea stage and early stage founders

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to diagnose venture status and issues. Understand legal, financial, and technology issues and be able to match with the right expert or mentor
  • Familiarity with design thinking, lean startup, and business model canvas approaches to entrepreneurship
  • Understanding of experimental design and customer empathy approaches
  • Strong understanding of business models and drivers of success in startups across several verticals
  • Ability to analyze and systematically evaluate ventures, create financial models, conduct market analysis, and strategic planning
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with individuals in a variety of levels, ranging from top executives and university leaders to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Demonstrated computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work nights and/or weekends, as needed.
  • Ability to work with innovative and out of the box thinkers and innovators.


  • PhD, DBA, or other terminal degree in a relevant field
  • Demonstrated success using above approaches
  • Experience working in an accelerator or familiarity with an accelerator’s operations
  • Previous experience founding a startup and/or experience working as consultant or advisor to startup companies
